This garden needed a large pool and entertaining area for a young family of five, while keeping the expansive lawn area to play cricket. Working with the clients, we designed a classic styled garden which isn’t too structured, highlighting seasonal change and movement in the planting.

To ensure the garden and pool feel integrated, the pool sinks into the garden rather than feeling like a separate space. Raised above the existing ground level to maximise lawn space, additional space along the pool edge allows for larger screening trees. The sunken lower seating area under the canopy pf the existing Cherry tree creates an exclusive feeling space, while the lack of permanent structures around the pool area allows the pool fence to be pushed back towards the boundaries to give a sense of openness.
